Cameron,s Letter April 25, 2011
Hello Everyone! I hope ya'll are doing great!
I did get the package! Thank you very much! I have used the GPS and it is working!
My Easter was pretty much like any other day here. We had Stake Conference and they released the Stake President and called a new one. (The new one is President Curtis). Then afterwards Elder Adam and I tossed tennis balls back and forth during our lunch and our companion study, then we visited some members and had spaghetti at the Bishops house. That's my Easter.
Well sounds like you guys have been pretty busy this week haha! And sounds like a fun Easter!
That's cool that Uncle Brain and Aunt Cynthia came over! Sounds like ya'll had a great time.
Mom's question: What happened this week or what did you do this week that strengthened your testimony of the "Book of Moromon"? Well I was asked to talk about the Importance of the Book of Mormon for district meeting tomorrow and I was reading about it in Preach My Gospel and it was really cool to reread the Importance of the Book of Mormon! And it also gave me a little more reguvination to teach people!
My week was an ok week. Monday we had met with Pamala again and went over Baptism and Conformation. She is excited to get baptized! She didn't go to church yesturday because she was visiting with her mom (who she doesn't get to see very often) and last night we texted her and she was really sad! She told us she felt really bad about missing church! We told her it was ok and hopefully she won't feel bad anymore. She is still on track to be baptized on May 7th!
Tuesday we saw Robert and he is just having a really hard time with his parol officer, and the meds he is on.
Ok Thursday was probably one of the most uncomfortable things happened! Ok we were going to PSC (Pennsacola State College) to pick up a member to go to a lesson with us. We started walking on campus looking for him, when tho and behold we see the 19 year old guy we were going to go see, sitting with 2 other people and he was drunk. He saw us and we went over and talked for a minute, when (this guy's name is David) says, "you guys are beautiful. Particularly you" (pointing at me) and he came over and gave both of us a hug and a kiss on the cheek! And then he took my mechanical pencil out of my pocket and looked at it for a minute and then hucked it at a pole. The girl that was there asked why he did that. And he said it was because my pencil looked at him weird. I was thinking great.
Friday we had another lesson with the Tasha's family. This one on our bodies are temples, and the law of chastity. The reason we taught chastity again was because Tasha and Kevin could be baptized if they weren't living together. They said that they wanted to wait a while to see if they can get progress in getting Tasha divorced. And then we went over and had a little going away party with a family that was moving. (Their name is Cloward's, pictures will be put on).
Saturday we helped the Cloward's move. Their was just us, them, and the elder's quorom president (Bro Stanton) it took about 3 hours. And then we went to the Jay missionaries baptism. Following that was lunch. And after that we were supposed to study, but Elder Adam fell asleep, and after reading a couple chapters in the Bible I did too! haha! Then after that EVERYTHING fell through! We travelled down Avalon Blvd and saw the bay and some pelicans! At dinner we talked with a guy named Raffiel! We gave him a Book of Mormon! And then we went went back to the apartment we talked with one of our neighbors and gave him a Book of Mormon too! It was a good ending to a not so good middle of the day!
Well I wish you all a great week! And also if you could ask Rachael to write me back please! :) People aren't sending letters back to me :( it's sad :( There are only a few who do write back and I only get a letter from them maybe once every 2 weeks! Well I love ya'll! Remember who you are and what you stand for! And mom and dad it would be really cool if you guys made Mormon.org profiles! Love ya'll!

Hello Family and do whomever they choose to let read this email!
Now the event you have all been waiting for! My weekly activities!
Monday was our last time doing Empty Nesters! We are so happy about that! And then afterwards we went back to our appartment to do roster work, but Elder Adam was too upset with the Empty Nesters, so we went for a walk around our complex. We then went and sat by the pool, and we see a lady for our complex walking around. We say hi and asked her if she had any questions about Mormons. I don't think she heard the second part, but about 5 minutes later she came and talked with us. Her name is Kim. She asked alot of questions, and we answered them. We gave her a Book of Mormon and she said she would read it! It was a great ending to the day!
Tuesday we did a trade-off with Jay missionaries. Elder Adam went there and Elder Westover came here with me. And the only things that didn't fall through were our first appointment and our dinner appointment, and our dinner appointment was almost forgotten too! It was kind of a stressful day and then we did some tracting that day and afterwards I realized that we were tracting in the Pace area! I was thinking, come on!
Wednesday we had another appointment fall through, but this time we went and saw Robert. We finally got hold of him! After 2 weeks!! He was on meds that made him very infunctionable, he hated the meds but the courts told him that if he doesn't take them that he will go back to prison! Satan is throwing everything he can at Robert because he is trying to change his life! I hate it! I want him to leave him alone! Then we went and traded back with the Jay missionaries. Then we had a lesson with our new investigator, Allen. We taught him the Plan of Salvation, he said that he has been alot happier since he started reading and praying! It's awesome! (He unfortunately didn't come to church this week.)
Then our next appointment fell through because of sickness/not feeling well. Then we tried to find people until dinner. Dinner we had at the Stanton's and we had sushi. It was ok, not the best food I've had. After that we went to see the White's and we got to know them better and they are pretty cool people!
Thursday, after weekly planning we tried to get new "gators" at the high school but no success, because a sign said no walking on the sidewalk so it made it hard to talk to people, and then we saw other people walking on it and it was as we were getting ready to leave! Then we took our bikes and went to the Tasha's and rode them around with the girls. Later that evening we saw Pamela and watched Prophet of the Restoration! It's an awesome movie! Very inspiring too! She is still on track for baptism, but she didn't come to church.
Friday was similar to Tuesdays, people fell through and until we went to the Foret's we had to find people! At Tasha's we rode our bikes again and taught them about following the prophet and tithing. They are still waiting for Tasha to get the money she needs to get divorced, but on the bright side they got their vehicles working and they all came to church! Then we had dinner with the Cloward's and they had a friend over who later we talked to about questions he had about our church and doctrines. That took the rest of the night, the Cloward's are unfortunately moving Friday and we are sad because they are awesome people!
Saturday we saw Malcolm again and he wasn't doing too hot and he was upset about something that I can't tell you about. Then we tracting and ran into a guy who contraticted himself in telling us about apostacys. We then finally were about to get a lesson with Dennis Miscannon, exactly 2 months after our first lesson! Following we went to see Brenda in her new house and she absolutely loves it!
Well that's it for my week.
1- The only person I can think of that we helped would have been Allen. We helped him grow closer to Christ!
2- I know that through the Atonement we can be cleansed from our sins, and that we need faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we need to repent, we need to remember our covenants, and just repeat that process ever time we sin. Christ paid the ultimate price for us, and without what he did we would all be in BIG trouble! I love the Savior very much and am very grateful for what he did!I know that this church is true! I wouldn't be here if I didn't think it was true! In the name of Jesus Christ, amen!
I love you guys very much! One last thing, on Mother's Day make sure you guys remain at home after church if you can, because I'm not sure when I will call. Love you guys! Share the Gospel with everyone!

Cameron's Letter April 11, 2011
Hello everybody!
That's awesome that the Jazz beat the Lakers!! Well at least the Jazz will be able to improve for next season! Sounds like the BYU football team is doing well! We will have a great season this year! Yay for Jimmer and BYU!! Hope and pray that the Jazz pick him!! That would be the best thing! And I think it's awesome sleeping on a bunk bed! Elder Adam always bonks his head on the ceiling! haha! It's funny!
Well it's that time again for you lucky people to hear about the highlights of my week! Last Monday we saw Larrissa for the last time, she was very nervous about her move so we gave her a blessing. Following that we decided to go to DQ for dinner. It was attached to the only Chevron I have seen here in the south and to a really cool souvenier shop! I got stuff for you guys and I will send them when the time is right!
Tuesday we went to an older folks home and saw a lady there who is a member. It was funny we got there a little before Bingo time and once the word Bingo was passed around everyone gathered! It was hilarious! Then later we went tracting and we only knocked on 3 doors and spent at least an hour and a half talking with those people! The second door we knocked on was this guy, his name is Steven and he told us that our Bible was wrong (I thought no... our Bible isn't wrong. If you are saying that you are the first person here in the south I have met that says they don't believe in the King James version, but of course he meant the Book of Mormon. We talked about how it isn't the Bible just a different version, it's a different record. He then asked us what we believed were the qualities to get into Heaven. We told him the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and when Elder Adam said Baptism he stopped us and said, you know you don't need to be baptized in order to get into heaven. (we thought this was weird because he is Baptist) In a way he is right, but in order to get into the Celestial Kingdom we have to be baptized. Then he invited us to come to his church on Sunday, we accepted to go to the evening session. He said that when he walked into his church he said that it felt like God was telling him that that was where he needed to be. I'll tell you what, when we did go I felt the same feeling only it wasn't coming from God. (I'll talk more about our experience a little later) Then the last door we knocked on was this older lady, and we talked for at least an hour about all sorts of things gospel related. We talked about the Book of Mormon, the Bible, Joseph Smith, and many other things. She told us she is looking for the right church, and she accepted a Book of Mormon and said she would read it, but then she said I'll read this, but you have to convince me that Joseph Smith was a true prophet" (she had a hard time believing that there was a prophet on the earth today) I then told her, "we can tell you all about Joseph Smith until we are blue in the face, but it won't do you any good, because you have to find that out for yourself." I think that kinda caught her off guard. We talked for a little longer and asked us who were some famous Mormons and then we left because we shortly realized that we were late for our dinner appointment with Pamela. So we went and had dinner at her house, and then taught her some commandments. She is progressing very well! We watched Finding Faith in Christ, and that was great! It's a great movie!
Thursday we had Zone Conference for half the day where we learned lots! Then we went and taught the Foret's. (The day before we taught the girls and then after we wanted to take pictures with them. We did and then the girls wanted to take pictures with our cameras, we let them take some and a few times we had to chase them to get the cameras back. I will put some of the pictures on here.) We got Kevin to open up more to us. He said that he wanted to be baptized but he wants to wait and do it at the same time as Tasha. Joey won't quit smoking, and we aren't really sure where he is at in the gospel and reading. Then we went to Pamela's again, and she was reading 1 Nephi 8, and didn't understand it, so we read it with her and tried to explain it to her. Adam was there with us because we can't be alone with Pamela. (they are cousins)
Friday we did service at the Sorensen's again but it might be the last time we do it because Pres Jensen told us in Zone Conference that we shouldn't do service if we aren't getting investigators from it, and that we want people to see us doing service and we can't do that if we are in their backyard. Then later that day we went to Carolyne's house (I think I told you guys about her, she is the one we cleaned the gutters out for and raked the leaves) we found out that she is a member but has had some rough times and she and her husband are both on disablilty and can't move around lots. We are gonna go back and see them on friday. Then we went to Brother Cloward's house and played games with all the non-member teens that he deals with, and we had a lesson with one of them, his name is Allen. We taught him the first lesson and he seemed to understand things we said. We gave him a Book of Mormon and asked him to read and pray about it. He said he would, and we also invited him to church. He accepted and he did come.
Saturday we went to the county fair to try and find a new investigator, while there we saw a HUGE cow! It's back was as tall as I am! And we also saw a chicken with an afro bobbing and shaking it! We didn't get any investigators from it. Then we went to see some potential investigators Elder Adam and his last companion found, we may have a new investigator with one of them, her name is Marie and she is a single mother with a very busy life. We are gonna try to see her Wednesday or Friday.
Sunday, church was pretty good, but after church our plans fell apart and things didn't go very well. After church we had lunch at a members home and gave 2 blessings, one for the sick little girl and one for the mom who is getting pain in her hands and is worried it might be Lupus (I think that is how it is spelt and this family's name was Hodges.) We went to the Baptist church at 6 and here is what happened there. The choir sang LOUD it was not a place to feel the spirit. Then the congregation sang for about another 10-15 minutes. Then it was the passing of the tray to get money, then the pastor got up and tell about something going on with another Baptist church up in New York or something and how it is a cult. Then more singing for another 20 minutes, and then the pastor got back up and asked for all the kids who were 10 or younger who had a birthday last week or this week and asked them to come up. Only one little girl got up and they gave her the collecting tray and said that everyone should give that little "orpahn" girl (she wasn't an orphan) and then told the organist to play some money collecting music. I don't think any money went to that little girl because one of the ushers came and took the tray when everyone was done giving money, and then their guest speaker got up and talked more about news and then told a story about how God answers prayers, and then gave a sermon where most of it I didn't agree with. The only thing I agreed with was that Jesus is our Savior. Let's just say I'm glad that I am apart of this church! And the greatest part about missionary work is seeing people accept the gospel! Well I hope you enjoyed my email! I love you guys! Stay true to the truth!

Only one little girl got up and they gave her the collecting tray and said that everyone should give that little "orpahn" girl (she wasn't an orphan) and then told the organist to play some money collecting music. I don't think any money went to that little girl because one of the ushers came and took the tray when everyone was done giving money, and then their guest speaker got up and talked more about news and then told a story about how God answers prayers, and then gave a sermon where most of it I didn't agree with. The only thing I agreed with was that Jesus is our Savior. Let's just say I'm glad that I am apart of this church! And the greatest part about missionary work is seeing people accept the gospel! It was a great conference! I watched all of it, 4 sessions at the church and 1 at our ward mission leaders home. No investigators watched them with us, they went to a members house to watch, we only had 3 watch (Tasha, Savannah, and Pamela.)
We are still teaching the Foret's. Kevin and Joey have stopped coming to church because their vehicles are both broken down and they don't like asking people for rides, and don't like people at church say that they will help them with their cars and then not follow through with it.
The Miscannons. Sister Miscannon is a less-active member, and she wants us to teach her husband the lessons because she feels that he needs it. We taught him once several weeks ago and since then when we set up appointments things always come up to make it so they have to cancel. We will keep trying with them.
That's awesome that Tara got her mission call! And I am enjoying the weather, it will start getting extremely humid.
My companion is great because he knows the gospel and does about 60% of the talking when we teach. (It's great, I am getting better at talking more)
In my studying of the Book of Mormon I have been reading it and I now that it is a true book because it is EXTREMELY spiritually up lifting and I know that it was translated by the power of God through Joseph Smith.
Here is my week!
Pamela is continuing to progress, we had to move for BCD back to May 7th because the original date was too soon and the 23rd of April wouldn't work because stake conference is the following day, and yeah. We pushed it back to the 7th.
This lady called us Tuesday and asked us to come talk to her and she told us things that she didn't want us to tell anyone else so I can't tell you, but she is from Russia and I think she is in culture shock right now because she doesn't understand the people here, and she thinks that us as Americans are spoiled and that we complain alot. She likes our church but doesn't feel she is ready to be baptized. She said that she wants to be free and that there are some things she does that aren't in harmony with what we believe and she thinks that she has to change every aspect of her life, and she told us that with all our rules that we are just like Comunists! Elder Adam and I are getting frustrated with her because no matter what we teach her, she only focuses on the problems of our church and our country, but we see her for the last time today and then she is moving tomorrow. (We are both excited for that!)
On Friday when we were doing service for the Sorensen's (they have all the birds and animals I sent you pictures to) They have some goats and one of them was pregnant and had babies last week (triplets!) They are soft and we got to hold them! I will try and upload them to the email. (there I think I did it) I will go into more details with some things in my voice recording. Love you guys! Stay true to the faith! It really is the way to go!!!
